Central Vacuums add Value to your home
  • Builders install central vacuums into new homes to help them sell faster
  • Real Estate Agents confirm houses with central vacuums sell faster
  • People are health conscious - a central vacuum will be a deciding factor to health conscious purchasers
  • Houses with central vacuum systems appeal to the prestige homeowner

There are two types of Vacuum - bagged and bagless. We prefer the bagged variety as they are easier to clean out and give longer motor life. All central vacuums operate in a similar manner. The important measure with regards to compare performance is by vertical water lift H20WGmm.
As the vacuum motors in most makes and models are produced by the one manufacturer - Lamb and Hayward in the USA, most of the vacuums have similar specifications. Many people use watts in comparing sizes of motors - this measurement is irrelevant - what is important is the efficiency of the units motor.
The vacuum pipe connecting the inlets to the unit is a 2" vacuum pipe water pipe should not be used. All suppliers use the same size pipe.
It is important to measure exactly where inlets are required, the siting of furniture must be taken into account. The 9m hose may reach to the far corner of an unfurnished room but when a double bed is in the room it may not. It is vital that inlets are not sited where furniture is going to be placed. A good idea is to put inlets close to doorways rather than in the middle of walls. The inlets should be situated at the same height as plugs. All joins must be deburred and glued using a PVC glue available from any Plumbers Merchant.

Installing vacuums is not difficult as long as basic rules are followed. To avoid blockages there should be no rough edges on any pipe and all joins should lie towards the unit so airflow is not interrupted.

We install blockage eliminators at the inlet end of the pipe work, ie. a tight 90° bend by the inlet with sweep 90° bends everywhere else. Logically whatever gets sucked past the tight bed will have no trouble being sucked through sweep bends.

The pipe out should be completed as soon as possible following the lock up stage of the house so the installer does not have to pipe the vacuum around plumbing and electrical cables.

The Vacuum cleaner has to have mains power supplied to it by the electrician. One advantage of the Astrovac unit is that the unit can sit either side of the pipework so there is no requirement to order right or left hand models.

Central Vacuums, after filtering out dirt and dust into their canister (if a bagless type) or into a bag (if a bagged type), then expel the air either:

  1. through an exhaust onto the ground under the unit (satisfactory if the unit is in the garage)
  2. piped to a vent on the outside wall. This can cause staining of the outside wall and can also annoy neighbours as the air makes a noise as it is expelled.
  3. Piped into an area in the roof of the home, usually into the surfeit.

The Astrovac Central Vacuum unit also has an inlet on it which will vacuum the area it is situated in.

NEW HOMES
While three models uu1200,1200db and 1400db suit most situations hevier units are also available, The uu1200 should be used for installations where the furthest outlet pipework is less than 25 meters from the unit. The 1200db should be used for installations where the furthest inlet point is less than 35 meters of pipework from the unit, while the 1400db is usually required for four inlets and above or for premises where the furthest point is more than 45 meters of pipework from the unit.

SafeSecure sell and install Astrovac Central Vacuums, they are a quality Australian product, manufactured in Melbourne - www.astrovac.co.au - . parts are easily available and the unit has proven itself over many years to be the equal or better than all other units.

It is advisable to have more inletsthan less if there is doubt as to the number required. While the hose comes as a standard length of 9 meters we can supply extra hose if required, or a shorter section for one room. However if a switched hose is used it is important to note that a switched head will not work if a short section is used.

The pipe out price does not include vacuum inlets; inlets must be orderd and purchased with the vacuum unit. If people want inlets only and not the complete unit then these must be purchased and a labour charge for fitting will be added. An inlet will usually take 20 minutes to fit.

An Astrovac Vacuum system has up to four times the suction of portable vacuum cleaners, picking up more dirt and leaving surfaces cleaner. While portable vacuums vent dust back into the room the Central Vacuum System will completely remove "secondhand" dust from living areas.

ALLERGY SUFFERERS WILL NOTICE AND APPRECIATE THE RELIEF A CENTRAL VACUUM SYSTEM WILL BRING.

Are you health conscious?, Are you sick of dragging around a cumberson vacuum?, Do you want vacuuming to be easier, faster, and more efficient
A Central Vacuum system is a vacuum cleaner that is inbuilt into a house or building. All that is required to operate the system is that you plug your vacuum hose (usually 9 meters long) into a wall inlet (approximately the size of a normal light switch). The vacuum cleaner starts automatically when this occurs. An average home requires 2-3 inlets. By strategically placing these, the 9 meter hose will reach all areas. The Vacuum receptacle drum and motor are usually installed in the garage if attached, or in a cupboard or under the house if the garage is separate.

THE ADVANTAGES OF CENTRAL VACUUM SYSTEMS:

DUST MITES
House dirt includes pet hair, mould, spores, pollen, dust mites, bacteria and more….

The dust mite is the smallest member of the spider family and its excrement is extremely allergenic. It feeds on human skin flakes and thrives in our beds, carpets and furnishings

These nasty little creatures lurk in dust deposits. They thrive in warm, humid conditions and are particularly prevalent in bedrooms

You are unlikely ever to see one unless you own a microscope, for they are minuscule - an estimated 42,000 of them can be found in a single ounce of mattress dust

FUTURE HEALTH

  • Breathing in airborne allergies is a cumulative problem
  • Think of your immune system as a bucket filling up with allergies
  • The symptoms do not appear until the bucket is full
  • Environmental control can help you avoid enough of these allergies so your "bucket" never reaches danger levels

ASTHMA Don't end up being a statistic ….

  • Avoid asthma and related illnesses 16.6% or 600,000 New Zealander's will suffer from Asthma and related Bronchial disorders at some stage of their lives (Asthma Society)
  • Asthma affects people of all ages and backgrounds - some more than others (Asthma Society)
  • A recent study in the USA showed that 23% of childhood Asthma could be traced back to dust mite allergens.
  • Central vacuum systems are proven to be the most efficient means of removing dust mites from your enviroment.
  • Allergies build up in your system over time taking years to become a problem CARPET LIFE
  • Carpet is your 3rd most expensive asset after your home and car.
  • Carpet life is greatly lengthened through the use of an efficient cleaner.
  • Ground in dust and dirt has the same effect as rubbing sandpaper onto your carpets fibres.

AVOID SPINAL INJURIES

  • No more heavy bulky cleaners to drag around
  • Don't injure your back
  • Don't aggravate existing back problems
  • Just plug in your hose
  • No storage problems
  • Several countries have conducted studies on the benifits of central vacuum systems.

U S A STUDY
An average home accumulates 40kg of dust annually

Most portable vacuums pollute more than they clean

Portable vacuums suck in dirt and blow out the smaller particles that, because of their small size, slide through the bodies filtering systems and lodge in our lungs

The only vacuum that you should consider is one built into your home that puts all dust in a central unit, then blows it outside

Notice how after vacuuming you need to dust polished furniture, this is the dust that is blown through your vacuums dirt container.

GERMAN STUDY

Many vacuum cleaners are bacterial sling shots

Bacteria flies through the pores of vacuum cleaner bags like house flies through a fence

SWEDEN

The leading country in the world in providing advanced health care

Completed a cost benefit analysis and found it is cost effective for the Government to pay for the installation of central vacuums into homes, such is there impact on health.
